    NEXT MEETING:  In observance of Labor Day, there will be no meeting on Monday, September 1, 2008.  No sign up sheets will be posted, as all members will receive a free pass for their attendance.  Our next scheduled meeting, Monday, September 8, 2008 at Concordia Lutheran Church.  We will hold our September board meeting that evening.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

    SUNSHINE:   Our prayers go to Fred and Mary Ann Wright on the loss of Mary Ann’s sister.  Agan is not feeling well.  Bob our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Get well soon!

     

    THANK YOU:  We received a thank you from University Settlement with regards to the $300 donation for their Back-to-School Fair.  We also received notes of thanks from Megan Osysko and Daniel Williams winners of our Academic Excellence Science Award and our Key Club Scholarship Award, respectively.

     

     

     

     

    PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

     

    It is hard to believe summer will soon be a memory.  Hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and their vacations.  We will be back at Concordia on Monday, September 8th.  I am hoping you will once again join us for dinner.    We now guarantee 25 for dinner and we need to sustain these numbers to remain at Concordia.

    Also, there will be a board meeting on that day.  Please mark your calendar to attend as some very important issues will be discussed.

     

    FALL BBQ:

    The date of the Fall BBQ is Sunday, September 21, 2008.  The date in our directory is incorrect. Sell those tickets! 

     

     

     

     

    DIVISION 24 INSTALLATION:  This year’s installation will on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church at 8111 Brecksville Road, Brecksville.  The night will begin with a wine & cheese reception at 6:00 pm followed by dinner at     6:30 pm.  Our reservations must be submitted before September 4th.  If you wish to attend, please contact Edie.

     

     

     

    BROADVIEW HTS. CHARTER PARTY:  The newly chartered Kiwanis Club of Broadview Hts. will hold its charter party on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Briarwood Country Club located at 2737 W. Edgerton Road, Broadview Hts.  Doors will open at 12:30 pm and lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.  Cost: $25.00 per person.  RSVP:  Cindy McCarty 440-526-8876 by August 29, 2008.

     

    MEMBERSHIP:  The best way to bring in new members is to simply ASK.

     

    YCPO:  Kukawka reported that during University Settlement’s Back-to-School fair, photos were taken of about 150 children who posed for photos with their cowboys hats while on the ponies. 

     

    COMMUNITY SERVICE:    Klepacz reported that Bontempo brought items for the West Side Catholic Center.  Also reported, a check for the Cornerstone of Hope was also presented.  This money is slated to purchase a popcorn machine for the facility.   Reminder:  The West Side Catholic Center is in need of the following items:  Food items-coffee, sugar cereal; Toiletries-soap, shampoo, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste and brushes; Clothing-Men’s pants, shoes, socks, underwear; Household Goods-pots and pans, can openers, toasters, radios, small TV’s, tableware; Baby Items-diapers, wipes, cribs, bedding; Misc. Items-used eyeglasses, backpacks, sleeping bags, garbage bags, umbrellas.  Oh, by the way, George says, “BRING YOUR STUFF!”

    POP TAB COLLECTION PROGRAM:  In an effort to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, we collect the tabs from aluminum cans.  Don’t forget to bring them in.

BUILDERS CLUB:  The main fundraiser for the Builders Club is the collection of box tops.  These coupons are located on General Mills products.  A valid coupon contains the 10¢ and an expiration date.  There are many other ways to contribute to this fundraiser, log onto boxtops4education.com and find out more.  Below is a photo of what they look like:
