NEXT MEETING:   There will be NO regular meeting next week.  Instead, there will be a Home Days meeting at 6:30 pm at the London Pickle Works.  If you wish to eat, dinner is on you.

PAST WEEK:  This week’s speakers came to us from the Ohio Department of Insurance.  David Barney and Jana Jarrett spoke to us about the investigative process that occurs when a complaint is received about alleged misconduct of a licensed insurance agent.  The hottest complaint being received is with regards to Medicare.  Some insurance agents who sell Medicare plans are using questionable sale tactics to sell products, rather than matching their clients with suitable plans.  Visit the agency’s website at www.ohioinsurance.gov to find    out more information.

AKRON AEROS GAME:  The game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2008.  If you are attending, please be at the Civic Center at 4:45 pm for the bus will depart at approximately 5:00 pm.

DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING:   This month’s meeting was held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Busch Funeral Home.  Thanks to Bontempo, Senick, Costanzo, Benes and E. Schilla for attending.

    PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Just a note of thanks for the great job for all involved with the golf outing.  Also, it was very nice to see so many Kiwanians at the memorial breakfast.  Our work is NEVER done…we are now rounding third and heading into HOMEdays Please be sure to contact Diane to go that extra inning and help out for the “Great American Pastime”.

    HOME DAYS

There will be Home Days meeting on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the London Pickle Works at 6:30 pm.  If you wish to eat, dinner is on you.

There are several items relating to Home Days that we need to remind everyone about:

ü  Turn your raffle tickets and money into D. Weseloh before Monday, July 28, 2008.  Any tickets/money not returned by the 28th, the club will be penalized.

ü  If you have not signed up to work either Friday or Saturday, please contact Diane ASAP.

GOLF OUTING:  What a great day!  We had 140 golfers and a balmy 90 degrees.  We wanted to extend a huge thank you to the following:  Kukawka, Wells and Bontempo who sat at hole 13 all day waiting for that elusive hole in one (got close, but no cigar); J. Weseloh and D. Weseloh for assisting with registration; Bontempo and Wright who sold $470 in mulligans; M. Senick and S. Senick who sold a whopping $1,305 in raffle tickets; Chrzanowski for helping set up the Kiwanis tent; Young, Renja, and J. Weseloh for making those phone calls to secure hole sponsors.  Also, thanks to everyone who played golf.  Mark your calendars – 2009 golf outing will be on Friday, July 17th.

MEMORIAL BREAKFAST:    It was wonderful to see such a tremendous turnout from our club.  We had 11 members this event:  Senick, Wright, Bontempo, Hornack, E. Schilla, B. Togliatti, Benes, Kukawka, Todt, Rusnaczyk and Wells.  It was a pleasure to be joined by Dolores Kurtz.

SPRING BBQ:   Several members have turned in neither tickets nor money from the spring BBQ.  In order to close out the books for this event, all monies and/or tickets must be accounted for.  Please turn everything in by the end of July so that the books can   be closed on this event.

MEMBERSHIP:  The best way to bring in new members is to simply ASK.
