NEXT MEETING: Monday,
June 23rd – Nicole Scouloukas, Branch Manager of Third Federal,
will speak on the current mortgage
crisis.
PAST
MEETING: Our speaker was Roscoe
Schlachter, Superintendent of the CVCC. Mr. Schlachter gave us an overview of the
variety of programs that are available at the CVCC. These programs are now career-technical in
nature. The Positive Post Placement
Program at the CVCC is the highest rank in the state. This program encourages graduates to pursue
higher education, seek employment in their field or enter an apprenticeship. The CVCC now reaches out to all students in
their participating districts with their Career Development Programs. These programs involve students from K-12. They start with simple field trips to career
assessment test to creating career portfolio’s that include resumes, mock interviews
and job shadowing.
GUESTS: A
warm welcome was given for our guest Councilman Anthony Togliatti.
HAPPY DOLLARS: Penitz
and A.
Togliatti threw in a buck for Father’s Day; Scott was happy for his
brother-in-law and all the work he did to help prepare for the graduation
party; Klepacz threw in a dollar for all the flag contest winners.
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
This
past Saturday, John Kapusta, Edie Schilla and I attended a Leadership
Education class for the 2008-2009 year. Much of their focus was on
membership growth. As you know, my mantra these past months has been to
increase and/or sustain membership for obvious reasons. It is a difficult
task, but I have confidence we will attain these goals in order to remain a
strong and active club. It is my hope you will ask a friend, colleague,
or family member to join us. On another note, it was great to see John
Rusnaczyk out of the hospital and back at our meeting.
GOLF OUTING: The outing is only 6
weeks away. Flyers are now available;
please contact E. Schilla or Costanzo for your
copy.

DIVISION COUNCIL: Wednesday, June 18, 2008 will be the division council meeting at Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Road at 8:15 pm. NOTE: This is NOT the regularly scheduled time!
SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTION: Chrzanowski reported that we collected
about a third of what was collected last year.
There will be a help session after next week’s meeting so that all the
supplies can be boxed and prepared for shipping to Afghanistan. Chrzanowski is asking members to bring in
pencil sharpeners, erasers, book bags/packs and some items for the troops.
MEMORIAL BREAKFAST: The Memorial Breakfast will be held on Sunday,
July 20, 2008. It will be held at Ridge
Manor Party Center, 4630 Ridge Road, Brooklyn, Ohio. It will begin at 7 am and end at 8:15
am. The cost is $11.00. Please see Wright to make your reservation. A strong showing by our club would be a tremendous
tribute to Mel Kurtz and Dottie Ornas.
SINGING: We sang a belated Happy
Birthday to Bontempo. The
next song choice was “The Band Played
On” and it was soooooo bad that even Hornack admitted that it was “not too good”, so as
punishment we sang “Beer Barrel
Polka” for the Dad’s and for some
reason it was much better!
HOME DAYS: Believe it or not, Home Days is less than 60
days away. If you have any suggestions,
please contact D. Nicastro.
COMMUNITY
SERVICE: Klepacz presented
Rusnaczyk with the flag that he won.
Klepacz review with the club what he means when he states to bring your
stuff. The West Side Catholic Center is
in need of the following items: Food items-coffee, sugar cereal; Toiletries-soap, shampoo, deodorant,
lotion, toothpaste and brushes; Clothing-Men’s
pants, shoes, socks, underwear; Household
Goods-pots and pans, can openers, toasters, radios, small TV’s, tableware; Baby Items-diapers, wipes, cribs,
bedding; Misc Items-used eyeglasses,
backpacks, sleeping bags, garbage bags, umbrellas. Oh, by the way, BRING YOUR STUFF!
MEMBERSHIP: The best way to bring in new members is to simply ASK.
UNIVERSITY SETTLEMENT: Kukawka reported that
he took over donuts and clothing to University Settlement. Great Job Ed.
