NEXT MEETING:  On November 19th the Brecksville Club will join us for dinner (usually turkey) and a dialogue.  They will be sharing some of their club’s projects and events.

PAST WEEK:  Lt. Governor of the 24th Division, Larry Myers and his wife, Elaine were our guest speakers.  He began with an Official quote, that the Lt. Governor is responsible for Kiwanis development within the division for the year.  He stated that over the past 10 years Ohio Kiwanis has gone from 13,500 members in 1997 to 10,114 in 2007.  Division 24 lost 3 clubs our clubs lost 61 members.  He thanked Mike Costanzo for his efforts last year in saving one club.  He emphasized that the biggest difference between a struggling club and a vibrant club is ALIGNMENT.  Alignment is a measure of how much the club members are pulling in the same direction.  He gave some ways to ensure alignment:

Members making suggestions or bringing forth new ideas.

Encourage good club meeting attendance by having interesting and fun meetings.

A few members need to volunteer to call members who haven’t been attending

We should discontinue doing things that are no longer worth doing.  To grow and move towards greatness sometimes we need to consider change.

GUESTS:  Sam Testa paid us a visit from Atlanta Georgia

A BIG THANK YOU to Spilker for taking such good notes on passing them on to this secretary in a timely manner.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Scott did the collecting; he had a dollar for no particular reason.  Chrzanowski’s dollar went out to Wright who had wrist surgery.  Edie Scilla celebrated her grandmother’s 90 birthday by contributing a buck.  Todt thanked our vets with his dollar.  Wright wished his neighbor, Keven Hatch, well.  He is leaving soon for his 2nd tour in Iraq.  Testa had a buck for Senick who was his pick for president.  Larry Myers was glad the weekend was over because all the hometown teams lost, including OSU.

SINGING:  Scott led us in a raucous rendition of “Roll Out the Barrel”.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:  Klepacz stated that we would be sponsoring a family for Christmas this year.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS:  Rejna shared with us that he has researched the “Plumpy Nut” issue and found a not-for profit source to which we can contribute.

BUILDER’S CLUB:  Edie Schilla said that the Builder’s Club was working on money for UNICEF, Christmas cards for the troops, and a handprint fundraiser.
