NEXT MEETING:  Walley Mieskowski sports guru and fishing expert will give some inside pointers on how to enjoy the great outdoors.

PAST WEEK:  Two of our own local celebrities – “Flash” Fence and his very talented wife, Debbie spoke about the decline of radio.  Although, Ference was totally awed by radio DJ’s when he was a little tyke, he actually began his radio career at the age of 19 with his first DJ position on this college campus radio station.  He then got a position with WXKY radio and lasted over 20 years when radio then began its decline.  What was the major cause?  Wall Street – Corporate America.  When making money became the bottom line.  There are only a few DJs that still broadcast from local stations.  Almost all others are, “canned”, computerized, taped and syndicated.  John Lanigan is one of the few DJs that provide local interest.  It is the personalities of DJs that changed the most.  At one time you use to see DJs at local establishments and commenting on local events.  Not any more!  I was a highly interesting presentation.

GUESTS: Our guests included eight of the lovely spouses.  It’s always a pleasure to have the ladies with us.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Scouloukas tossed in a buck for Pittsburgh.  Lance contributed a dollar hoping that the last half of his life will be as good as the first he turned 60 on Oct 16th.  Simon was delighted he had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren who live out of state.  Scott was going to celebrate Purdue’s victory over Ohio State, but it didn’t happen.  Spilker had a buck for the great grass cutting, leaf-raking day!  Hornack had a buck for Scouloukas who did a fine job on printing up the Club roster.

SINGING:  Hornack tried to lead us in singing “Up a Lazy River, but couldn’t get the melody so we gave that one up.  “Ma He’s Making eyes at me” went a little better.

INTER/CLUB:  Benes reported that four members attended the Inter/club with Richfield – Duhan, Scott Kukawka and Benes.

UNIVERSITY SETTLEMENT HOUSE:  Kukawka reported that on Monday, October 29th the Settlement House will hold a Halloween Celebration for the kids at University Settlement.  The party is for both kids and their parents.  The parents will listen to speakers and the kids supervised by the Kiwanians will be in another room playing games etc.  Let Kukawka know if you wish to help.  It starts at 5:45 pm

DIVISION COUNCIL:  The November 15th 24th Division Council Meeting will be held at Brecksville High School in the LDI Room.  Coffee and doughnuts will be served – no box lunches at 6:15pm.  The meeting will last approximately one hour followed by the concert of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.  Email (jmcalli876@aol.com) Jim McAllister or call him at 440.526.4531 if you would like a ticket.   Or let Senick know so she can bet the number of members attending in before Nov. 8th.

OUTBACK STEAK HOUSE: Reminder the Outback Steak House fundraiser coordinated by Stasek will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.  Chrzanowski reported that 117 tickets have been sold.

K-KIDS:  Chrzanowski stated that the K-Kids will be collecting for UNICEF on Halloween.  They are looking for a project for the troops at Christmas.  Approximately 40 enthusiastic students have become members.

KEY CLUB:  Kapusta reported that the Key Club has the boxes in place for collecting the slightly used Halloween costumes.  If you need a pick up call him

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  President Senick read a thank you note from the IBEW Local 38 Retiree’s Club for the use of the Kiwanis Pavilion this past summer.  They also donated $200. to our Kiwanis
