    NEXT MEETING:  Monday, October 8, 2007, our speaker, Bruce Harris will demonstrate the art of pumpkin carving.  There may even be a raffle of the finished product

     

    GUESTS:  Spilker introduced her guest Ron Rees who just may be a potential member.  Tom Boyle showed up and was for this week treated as a guest.

     

    PAST WEEK:  There was no program since we had the monthly Board Meeting

     

    BOARD MEETING NOTES:

    1.       The ladies will meet to determine how to disburse their funds from the Homeday Pie Booth

    2.       The Independence School Board has cancelled the invoices charging the Club with custodial and user fees for the Middle School and Shared use facility.

    3.       The Board voted unanimously to reinstate Jim Brearey as an active member after he paid his past and present dues.

     

    SUNSHINE:  Agan is doing well.  He, could, however, use some help with his yard work and grass cutting.  If you know of any young person wanting to assist contact Donna Agan.

     

    HAPPY DOLLAR:  With Scouloukas out of town, Spilker did the Happy Dollar honors.  There were so many dollars tossed around and so quickly this secretary couldn’t keep up with them all.  Here are some that stuck.  Chrzanowski had four dollars for the group that survived a near accident.  They attended the interclub to Port Clinton.  Driving into a rainstorm on the return trip they hydroplaned on the wet surface and ended up in a ditch along the roadside.  Costanzo was glad to be back at his home club.  Kapusta had a buck for his daughter, Rebecca, who was one stroke away from winning the golf championship.  Weseloh is happy to get her husband back.  Benes tossed in a buck for Costanzo.  Lance had a buck for our song leader, Hornack who “we couldn’t sing without and is an all around great guy!  Penitz had a dollar for the Browns, one for the Indians and one (ha, ha,) for the Stealers.

     

    SINGING:  Hornack led us in singing “Happy Birthday” to Young and “The Sidewalks of New York”

     

     

    OUTBACK STEAK HOUE:  The Outback Steak House fundraiser coordinated by Stasek will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.  Dinners are $15.00 and you get a choice of either sirloin steak or chicken.  This fundraiser will benefit our Scholarship fund.  ALL tickets sold or unsold must be turned in to Stasek on Monday Oct 8th. 

     

    FALL FESTIVAL:  Wells reported that there was a good crowd for the Fall Festival and they sold the 25 dozen ear of corn that was ordered.  The profit was $672.25.  Twelve Kiwanians came to help.  Wells thanked all who participated.

     

    INTERCUB:  Benes announced that he is planning an Interclub with Richfield on Thursady, Oct. 11th.  Check in with him if you can attend.

     

    KEY CLUB:  Kapusta reported that the Key Club had a good turnout for meeting – 35+ students.  Presently, they are holding a food drive for Lend-A-Hand.  They had a booth at the Fall Festival and made $500.

     

    K-KIDS:  Chrzanowski reported that the K-Kids at St Michael’s have held two meetings.  They are planning several events one of which is to sing for us in December.
