NEXT MEETING: Our next meeting will be on June 25.  This is a spouse’s night.  Be sure to sign up with Edie Schilla at 524-2312 or email Schilla8304@wowway.com.  Shelby Morrison from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be our guest speaker.

PAST WEEK:  Everyone pitched in to help sort and box up the mass amount of school supplies that were contributed by the Club and the local schools for the children of Afghanistan.  This is a project suggested by George Jicha, president of the Brooklyn Club and past Lt. Governor.  His son is stationed in Afghanistan and sent word to George that the children needed supplies because they couldn’t attend school unless they had them.  Our Club responded overwhelmingly!  Edie Schilla organized the collection, sorting and packing.  When the task was completed about 8:15 pm there were 77 BOXES of supplies.  Kiwanis will pick up the cost to send about 5 boxes a week to Jicha’s son.  .  Kudos to all who contributed!

GUESTS:  George Jicha, President of the Brooklyn Kiwanis Club attended with five members from his club.  We also had a photographer from Sun Papers and Kiwanis International to record the packing of the supplies.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Chrzanowski tossed in the first two dollars, one for the supply collection and one for George Jicha’s son.  Rusnaczyk had a dollar for our guests and Penitz chimed in with a buck for the Brooklyn Club.  Hornack had a sad dollar for the death of Lillian Bruggenmier.  Kukawka’s dollar was donated for an unmentioned cause.  Ornas had a buck for Bontempo who gallantly gave up his soft chair so she could sit down.  Thanks, Tony!

SINGING:  Hornack made two selections -: “Sunny side of the Street” and “Sweet Sue, Just You” – Enough said!

DIVISION COUNCIL:  Division Council will meet on Thursday June 21st.  at 8:15 pm at Busch Funeral Chapel on Ridge Rd.  These meeting are open to everyone.

REMINDER:  BEGINNING JULY 9TH WE WILL BE MEETING AT THE PICKLE WORKS IN BRECKSVILLE, UNLESS OTHERWISE ANNOUNCED!

HOMEDAYS:  Diane Weseloh will have Homeday raffle tickets soon.  Selling these is a great moneymaker since we receive 50 % of what we sell

MEMORIAL BREAKFAST:  The Kiwanis Memorial Breakfast will be held on July 15 at the Greenbriar Sr. Center.  It begins a 7:00 am and costs $7:00 per person.  See Wright if you’d like to attend.  Deadline for reservations is June 28th .  There will be a sign up sheet next meeting.

FLAG CONTEST:  Klepacz will award the flags to the winners at the July 21st Band Concert on the Square.  The Independence Historical Society is sponsoring this concert and will have Wes Gaab available to autograph his new book.

GOLF OUTING:  Edie Schilla is still in need of Hole Sponsors for the July 20th Golf Outing.  Sponsorship cost $100. and can be used as an advertising expense for the companies who obtain one.  Please, check all your resources and get Edie the name or contact them yourselves those who might be interested.

CHICKEN BBQ:  The figures are in for the Spring BBQ.  A profit of $5,300 was made.  Great job!  Our Fall BBQ is scheduled for Sept. 16th with Chuck Schilla at the helm.
