NEXT
MEETING: We
won’t be holding a meeting until January 8, 2007 at which time we
will have a Board Meeting and be back at the Concordia Church
PAST
WEEK: We met at the Pickle Works.
No speaker just good holiday wishes and good cheer. Todt
brought in a tangy dip to share with the members.
GUESTS: Lisa Joy Kemenyes was the
guest of Spilker. Lisa Joy was instrumental in getting the
Santa Deliver Program into Kiwanis. She,
her husband, Duane, and several other people have been running the Santa
Delivery for 10 years and have now passed it on to us. She and Duane will still have a hand in the
program but is very happy Kiwanis will be the main organizer.
SUNSHINE: Our Sympathies to Dolores and
Mel Kurtz whose mother and mother-in-law, Florence Walker, passed away
last week. Wright reports
that he has completed his inside rehab and took a trip to the mailbox this
week! He’s hoping to return in a few
weeks.
UNIVERSITY
SETTLEMENT: Kukawka reported that Edna and
Willie Wells came to help with the Christmas party. Over 100 candy canes were passed out.
KEY CLUB:. The
Key Club, collected, wrapped and delivered 70 gifts to the children at the
University Settlement House.
PRESIDENT’S
REPORT: President Chrzanowski
reported that we are in need of a Public Relations Chair. Anyone interested in taking on the committee
or working on PR please contact him.
Tickets are now available for the Division 24 fundraiser a night at the
Cassidy Theatre on January 25, 2007.The cost is $18, and the show is “Cocoa
Cabana”. See Chrzanowski for
tickets. Chrzanowski
read a letter from Mayor Ramos thanking the Club for replacing the outdated AEDs in the local churches.

for a
really fun Christmas Party; it takes a lot of organizing to get the gifts and
match them with the appropriate child plus the entertainment and great
food. Thanks gals.
Santa Delivery was a
wonderful experience for those folks who haven’t done it before! A BIG THANK YOU, Spilker
for all her efforts, time and energy and to all who participated in any way
thank you, we’ll do it again next year!
JANUARY
EVENTS: In January 2007 will be have
two spouse’s/guests nights. January
15th we will celebrate 55 years as the Independence Kiwanis Club. Special events are planned with our guest Governor
Elect Leroy Martin who will provide interesting information about Kiwanis. Be sure to be on hand for the PARTY! January 22nd the
Honorable Mayor Ramos will give the State of the City address. This is usually an interesting program
ANNUAL
LADIES BRECKSVILLE INTER-CLUB. The Annual
Inter-Club with Brecksville was a success with Spilker,
Edie Schilla, Mycoskie,
Senick and Benes
in attendance. Benes
will be looking for members to attend an interclub in January.
ART
GUILD: Contact Shallcross
for the Art Guild miniature in their Independence Building series. It is City Hall and costs $12. This will be the last of the series.
