PAST WEEK:  Michelle Nowakowski, principal of St. Michael’s School and Charlene Papariziz gave a bird’s eye picture of the activities at the St. Michael’s campuses.  There are two St. Michael campuses, one in Independence, which includes grades 2 to 8 and one at St. Basil’s in Brecksville, which includes Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st grades.  The ladies stated that the children in the schools learn Spanish, music, drama and reach out to the community in a variety of ways.   They are looking for more ways to serve the community and would like to partner with the Kiwanis Club in some of the Kiwanis Projects such as the Literacy Program.  The kids get involved in Science Fairs and writing programs and have won awards in both areas.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  There were several “dollars” for both the Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  They both lost.  Chrzanowski tossed a buck for his son Justin who was attending his third meeting and has taken an application for membership.

SINGING:  Mycoskie pulled off singing “Deck the Halls” in order to get into the Christmas spirit.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  President Chrzanowski reported that a sleigh was found for the Delivery Program.  All it needs is to be picked up.

We presented the Ladies of Concordia with a $500 gift for all the fine meals they have prepared for us.

SANTA DELIVERY IS COMING:  Sunday, December 17th is the BIG day for Santa to make his rounds.  Help will be needed on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6:30 – 9pm and Friday, December 8 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Old Rec Building for gift drop off.

ANNUAL LADIES BRECKSVILLE INTER-CLUB.  Benes is planning the annual ladies inter-club with Brecksville on Thursday, Dec. 7th.  This is where the female members of the Independence Club attend in mass the Brecksville meeting.  The meeting begins at 6:15 pm at Chippewa Place.  Let Benes know if you can make it.  Let’s keep up our good showing, in the past, we’ve had six or seven in attendance.

CHRISTMAS PARTY:  Weseloh is handling the particulars of the annual Christmas Party scheduled for December 11th at the Independence Civic Center.  Be sure to sign up your young guests so Santa brings the appropriate gift.  Weseloh needs names, ages and genders.  Sign up sheet will be sent around at our meetings or contact her at 447.0432
