NEXT MEETING: November 27th we will have the principal of St. Michael’s Elementary School, Michelle Nowakowski and Charlene Paparizis address the Club.

PAST WEEK:  Two gals from the Auditors Office gave an energetic presentation on the functions of that office.  Joanne and Elaine are Community Outreach Coordinators for our auditor and report directly to him.  Their main role is to visit various local organizations such as the Kiwanis to explain the programs offered them.  The Auditor’s office is responsible for setting the value on your property and homes.  There are approximately 650,000 parcels in Cuyahoga County that must be evaluated.  They are also responsible for answering your appeals to these values.

Another function of the coordinators is to explain the Homestead Exemption Program.  Those homeowners who are age 65 or older and whose annual income is less than $27,000 may qualify for this exemption.  Contact the auditor’s office if you have any questions about your property taxes or Homestead Exemption.

GUESTS:    Spouses and Kiwanis Brecksville members were in attendance in great numbers.  Thirteen Brecksville Kiwanians shared our traditional Thanksgiving Dinner that was so deliciously prepared by the Concordia Lutheran staff.  Our spouses in attendance included:  Elaine Todt, Gail Jordan, BertieRusnaczyk, Janet Young, Judy Scouloukas, Betty Shadrach, Donna Agan, Dolores Hornack, and Noreen Rejna.  It was nice to see sun-tanned Lance back!

HAPPY DOLLARS:  It was great to see Scouloukas back and “holding the bucket”, again.  Do you think he showed up because of the Browns/Steelers game last Sunday?  In any case he drew several happy dollars from our members, as did our Brecksville members and Ed Wheaton who was in attendance!  Hornack was especially happy because he was able to sit through the whole Brown’s game.  They played THAT good!  Wright had a buck for Freddy 4 (his son) who once again managed to get his photo in the City Newsletter.  This is about the 4th or 5th time.

SINGING:  Hornack led us in singing “Happy Birthday” to Todt and acknowledged Harry and Elaine Todt’s and Bertie and John Rusnaczk’s anniversaries.  The Rusnaczyk’s are celebrating their 50th.  Congratulations!  The Brecksville Club joined in make “Loud and Joyful” noises!

INTER-CLUB:  Inter-Club Chair, Benes was pleased with the turn out for the Berea’s Club meeting.  The speaker was interesting and they had a great meal.

CHRISTMAS PARTY:  Weseloh is handling the particulars of the annual Christmas Party scheduled for December 11th at the Independence Civic Center.  Be sure to sign up your young guests so Santa brings the appropriate gift.  Weseloh needs names, ages and genders.  Sign up sheet will be sent around at our meetings.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  President Chrzanowski read Thank you note’s from the Pieplow family (he was one of the main cooks for our Kiwanis dinners.) for the flowers sent.  Also a thank you note from Howard Hanna Smythe Cramer for the donation the club made to their Charity Wine Tasting Event.

SANTA DELIVERY IS COMING:  Sunday, December 17th is the BIG day for Santa to make his rounds.  We are in need of a sled (to borrow, or rent).  Help will be needed on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6:30 – 9pm and Friday, December 8 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Old Rec Building for gift drop off.  Sign up sheet will be available on Nov. 27th.
