NEXT MEETING: November 13 our friends from the Diabetes Association will present our program.

PAST WEEK:  President, Chrzanowski opened our regular meeting with a moment of silence for an unforgettable fine gentleman and dedicated Kiwanian Gene Sauter.  Gene passed away this week and will be certainly missed.  He was always smiling and pitched in where ever help was needed.

GUESTS:   Lisa Stasek and Justine Weseloh were guests of  Diane Weseloh.

    BOARD MEETING NOTES

    1.  The Board accepted the application for membership

from Lisa Stasek.  Lisa has attended several of our meetings and has helped with several of our fundraisers

    2.  The Board briefly discussed the 2006-2007 budget.

Committee Chairs agreed that their amounts could remain the same as last year.

    3.  The Board voted to upgrade the defibulators that we

purchased for the local churches in 2001.  The cost will

    be approximately $995.

    4.  Several requests for donations were referred to the

    appropriate committee chairs.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  There were many dollars in memory of Gene Sauter!  Hornak said it best when in tossed in his buck for a “great Kiwanian and a great guy”.  Klepacz had a dollar in honor of Scouloukas (who is recuperating from surgery) -  The Browns and Steelers are tied”  Edie Schilla was pleased that her nephew moved back with his dad.  Kukawka had a dollar for Wells who helped with the University Settlement House Halloween Party.  Faehnrich was delighted with sunny days.   Chrzanowski had a buck for our guests.

SINGING:   “Let me Call You Sweetheart”, was sung as a reminder to Shallcross and Kukawka that they had wedding anniversaries this week.  Hornack deserves kudos for his valiant effort in singing (almost solo) “ The Sunny side of the Street”.  He’s a smart man, though, he knew when to quit!

COMMUNITY SERVICES:   Klepacz read a thank you letter from the Cultural Arts Group for our donation to their chalk art event at the Fall Festival.  He also reminded everyone to bring their stuff.

YOUNG CHILDREN PRIORITY ONE:  Kukawka related that help is needed with the Literacy Program.  He transports three students to University Settlement for the reading program, however, more kids would like to go but need transportation.  The kids need to be there about 2:45 pm and return at 5:30 pm.  Check with Kukwaka or President Chrzanowski if you can assist.

INTER-CLUB: Benes is planning an Inter-Club with Berea on Tuesday, November 14th.  The Berea Club is having a special program that many of you may be interested in.  Their speaker will discuss the many benefits for Veterans.  There are many of them that people are not aware of.  Veterans of all wars are invited.  Sign up with Benes.  The meeting starts at 6:45 at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Bagley Rd.  Dinner is $8:00.  Get your reservation to Benes before the 10 of November.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  Chrzanowski has, at the suggestion, of Scouloukas adopted a procedure for a call chain.  He has asked one person on each page of the Kiwanis directory to call all the others listed on that page.  Those of you who called for Sauter, if you would continue to serve in this capacity, our president would appreciate it.  In this manner our members can be quickly notified of important information when it occurs.

Chrzanowski stated that Hornack suggested a Kiwanis road sign be replaced on Rockside Rd.  He has checked with Bob Evans and they gave permission for the sign.  The sign will be coming shortly.

SANTA DELIVERY IS COMING:  Sunday, December 17th is the BIG day for Santa to make his rounds.  We are in need of a sled (to borrow, or rent).  Help will be needed on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6:30 – 9pm and Friday, December 8 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Old Rec Building for gift drop off.

VETERNS MEMORIAL:  The City is holding a Veterans Day memorial at the Monument on the Square and then at the Civic Center.  Saturday, Nov. 11th is the day, 9:00 am at the Monument.  Check the Community Spotlight for further details.

MUSIC BOOSTERS PRESENT: Guys and Dolls” and A Taste of Independence will be held at the High School – Dinner and a play on Saturday Nov. 11th  for only $15.  The performance will be held on Friday, Nov. 10  also.  Contact Marianne Fike at 216.642.5860 or 215.328.1018
