NEXT MEETING:  November 6 there will be no program, however, a Board Meeting will follow our regular meeting.  All members are welcome to attend these meetings.

PAST WEEK:  Mr. Roger Howard, the new principal of the Independence High School introduced himself, told about his background and shared his goals for the Independence School District.  His three core beliefs are:  1.always remember the Golden Rule, 2. professionalism, and 3. the power of team work and collaboration.  He stated that the schools have great potential and he knows that that potential can be reached.  Mr. Howard sounds like a great asset to the schools.

SUNSHINE:  According to President Chrzanowski, Scouloukas is home and going through rehab.  He appreciates all the good wishes and get well thoughts from the members.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Many dollars where placed in the collection for Senick’s return – without her sling.  Hornack paid a tribute to his 98-year-old aunt who recently passed away.  “She was a really great lady.”  Rejna was delighted with the turn out for “Make a Difference Day.”  Duhan was happy with the good weather they had.  Freilino tossed in a buck for his son who was laid off and just got a good job.  Chrzanowski donated several dollars, one for the turn out for “Make a Difference Day”, one for Senick, and one for a Happy Halloween

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS:  International Relations Chair, Rejna reported that he had received a letter from Deacon Weinger regarding his mission in Columbia.  Rejna will expound more on this later.

SINGING:   The duo of Mycoskie and Hornack led us in three tunes, (we should have stopped after two)- “Bye Bye Blackbird”, “Happy Birthday” (for Hornack) and sort of a version of “Happy Days are Here, Again”.

INTER-CLUB:  Benes was pleased that four members, Kukawka, Wells, Shadrach and himself came through for the planned Inter/Club with Richfield.  Benes does a great job on arranging Inter-clubs.  He needs our help.  It takes four members to make an Inter-Club count.  The Inter/Club meetings are anexcellent way to learn more about our neighboring clubs.  Every member should attend at least one per year.

BUILDER’S CLUB:  Edie Schilla reported that the Builder’s Club held their elections this past week.  They are promoting their “Hands” project.  Students, for a dollar, can place their handprint on a designated wall at the Middle School.  These will be permanent impressions.  The project is going well.  They will be participating in “Coats for Kids” and are still collecting box tops.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  Chrzanowski thanked all who participated in “Make a Difference Day”.  These included Rejna, Kreizenbeck, Feilino, Kukawka, Todt, Duhan and his wife Claudia.

He stressed that with Sheets on leave of absence there is a need to have a member be a liaison for the Key Club and for the Builder’s Club.  Let him know if you can help out.

The Division 24 fundraiser will be held in January at the Cassidy Theatre.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY:  Despite the mud, and slippery conditions, seven members made a difference at the Land Lab Sunday.  The located washed out footbridges, and pulled them out of the stream.  There is plenty more work to do.  Other events will be planned.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:  PR Chair, Nicastro, is looking for a few good members to work on the Public Relations Committee.  Photographers, “Kiwanis Corner” writers and press release composes are a few of the positions available.  Get in contact with Nicastro if you are willing to help in any way.

CHILDREN PRIORITY ONE:  Kukawka reported that University Settlement House will be holding a Halloween Party for their kids.  The Children Priority One Committee has donated $200 toward the event plus, with the help of Discount Drug, 20 lbs. of candy.
