This is a spouses’ night so bring the wife, significant other or the neighbor.  Be sure to tell Edie Schilla so she can give the kitchen an accurate count for dinners.

Following the meeting we will have a short Board Meeting.

PAST WEEK:  Primary School Principal, Mrs. Judy Schultz spoke on the “Character Counts” program initiated in the Primary school last August.  The program has since spread throughout the City  - other schools and churches.  Mrs. Schultz explained the start up and the rational behind this character-building program.  This nationally recognized program focuses on the six pillars of character:  responsibility, respect, citizenship, caring, fairness and trustworthiness.  These Six Pillars will be incorporated as a “theme” whenever and wherever possible in each level of the schools as well as reinforced by the entire community.  National “Character Counts” week is scheduled for October 16-20.  During this week, many activities at the Primary school will be geared to strengthening these personal qualities.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Scouloukas had a sad dollar.  He will be undergoing knee surgery this Wednesday.  Keep him in your prayers.  After all who will cheer for the Steelers while he is out!  Spilker was delighted that she won a door prize at the Boosters.  Kapusta thanked the Kiwanis members for setting up the room for the Boosters on Saturday, during the coaches’ conference.  Lombardi had a buck for Kapusta.  Benes tossed in a sympathy dollar for the Steelers.  Klepacz was happy.  His oldest daughter got married and despite the weather everything turned out well.  Pentiz gave two dollars, one because his daughter found a house and the second – a sad dollar- she moved out of the house and took the grandchildren with her.  Now his wife is sad.  Wright was delighted because he has another addition to his mortality – the birth of another grandson.

CHICKEN BBQ:  Fall Chicken BBQ tickets need to be returned, like now!!! Get them to Chuck Schilla.

INTER-CLUB:  Benes reported that he has planned an Inter-Club with Richfield on Thursday, Oct 12th.  The club meets at 6:30 pm.  Our Independence members are meeting at Concordia at 5:45 pm to travel to Richfield as a group.  All new members should attend at least one Inter-Club during the year.  Call Benes at 524.4038 or show up at Concordia at 5:45.

BUDGETS:  President Chrzanowski wants the Board to vote on the 2006-2007 Club budget.  If any committee chair wants to make changes in the budget from last year be sure to contact him before October 30th.  Otherwise each committee budget will be presented to the Board as the same as last year.
