NEXT MEETING:  Our next meeting will be September 25, 2006.  This will be our annual awards banquet and installation of officers held at the Civic Center at 6:30 pm.  The cost for this dinner is $9.00 per person.  If you haven’t gotten your reservation in be sure to contact Edie Schilla

PAST WEEK:  Tom Cramer, BAC, B.S. FF/EM7P, CFSI, a local resident and full time fire fighter in Middleburg Hts. spoke on Crime Scene Investigation.  He had an interesting visual presentation, which demonstrated the methods used to photograph crime and fire scenes.  He also showed the various types of photographic equipment that is used in documenting the scenes.  He stated that presently film is still the most reliable method of preserving crime areas for court use.  Digital photography, although very popular, can easily be altered or distorted.  Tom began his career in Independence and still works here part time.

SUNSHINE:  It has been brought to our attention that Wright’ brother in law passed away earlier in the week.  Keep his family in your prayers.   Wheaton is still recovering from his fall at the Pickleworks several weeks ago, but is in good spirits.  Senick has gotten some good news.  Her arm, which she fractured last week, may not need an operation.  However, it will be a long time before she can get back to her active live.

GUESTS:  Weseloh introduced her guest, Lisa Stasek.  Many of you have already noticed her.  She was the real dynamo at the Chicken Bar B Q hustling those dessert trays and keeping the dessert table filled with those luscious goodies.

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Needless to say the Chicken BBQ stole the happy dollars this week.  There were many dollars for the success, the help of all Kiwanians, the help of the Builder’s Club and the leadership of Chuck Schilla.  Runner up for attracting the ☺dollars was Costanzo, who will soon be installed as Lt. Governor.  The past week was a happy one for a lot of other reasons.  Chrzanowski was delighted with the new after-shave and cologne most Kiwanians were wearing Monday night – most accurately described as “woodsy” or “smokey”!  Costanzo along with inviting everyone to the hospitality room at the Holiday Inn Thursday was pleased with the birth of his first grandchild – Isabelle.  Duhan was sad to miss the BBQ, but was delighted to have been able to visit his parents in Canada.  Edie Schilla tossed in $5 for the help on Sunday and $3 for her aunt who passed away.  Biondi threw in a dollar for the Browns because we now know that things can’t get much worse!  Freilino laughingly threw in a buck for Weseloh, who has a great sense of humor - something about a broom as an alternative method of getting home.  His second dollar was now everyone needs to help him out by watching his back.

Second Half dues are due Oct. 1, 2006.  .

DUEL BOARD MEETING:  Traditionally, the first Board Meeting in Oct (Oct 1st) is the “changing of the guard”, where the old board and president transfer the gavel and leadership of the club to the incoming president and board.  This year this will occur the second week of Oct. (Oct. 9th) One of the key players (Chrzanowski) will not be in town the first week!  October’s Board Meeting will be held on Oct. 9th.

CHICKEN BBQ WRAP-UP-  IT’S DONE, IT’S OVER AND IT WAS GREAT!!  THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED, BOUGHT TICKETS AND PRAYED FOR GOOD WEATHER.

Full report will follow at a later date.  Please, everyone needs to turn in your tickets and money.  Thanks for you cooperation!

Head “chicken packer’ Agan and his assistant/apprentice, Kreizenbeck prepare the chickens for grilling.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  President Scott reported that the Foote project was going well.  He and several Kiwanis and Key Club members worked this past Thursday and cleared out enough debris to have the contractors get the electrical started.

(check the web site for photos).

ANNOUNCEMENTS:   President-elect, Chrzanowski announced that we were asked to provide refreshments on Oct 7th for a Coach’s Clinic being held at the Field House.  The Club agreed to work from 7 am to 10 am selling donuts, juice etc.  What profits are made we keep.  Later in the month of October a Community Day is being planned at the Land Lab. where we may be providing refreshments.

INDEPENDENCE FALL FESTIVAL:  Wells announced that the Club will be selling sweet corn and fries at the City’s Fall Festival on Sunday Oct. 1st.  He is soliciting help to shuck corn and man the booth.  Times are about 10:00 am to shuck corn and 12:00 to 4:00 pm to man the booth.  A sign up sheet will be going around next meeting.
